Violence hits Lobregat’s turf again
January 20, 2010 - Zamboanga City, headed by Mayor Celso Lobregat, is again in the headline after two policemen were hurt in an ambush over the weekend, a belated report reaching luwaran today.
The ambush came in the heels of another ambush last January 17 in a village of Licomo, 85 kilometers east of this city.
Twelve civilian passengers were wounded including one lady doctor, Maita Blanco, who was all immediately rushed to a hospital in the town of Ipil in Zamboanga Sibugay province.
Owned by Rural Transit, the bus was heading for Pagadian City in Zamboanga del Sur province when it was strafed by gunmen believed to be extortionists.
The weekend attack wounded the policemen in Mampang village. The victims, who were not yet identified, were heading home on a motorcycle when gunmen opened fire at them.
No group or individual claimed responsibility for the attack.
